‘Evidence for Mister God?’ look around

Vivienne, You asked what I liked of  “To Mister God, This is Anna.”  All of the following direct quotes:

“Mister God wants you to be ” ‘I Am,’ like he is.”

This is the curious nature of Mister God: that even while he is at the center of all things, he waits outside us and knocks to come in. It is we who open the door, Mister God doesn’t break it down and come in; no, he knocks and waits.”

“Evidence for Mister God? Why, there was nowhere you could look where there wasn’t evidence for Mister God; it was everywhere . . . The evidence could be arranged in too many ways. People who accepted one sort of arrangement were called by one particular name. Arrange the evidence in a new way and you were called by a different name . . . The problem [is] further complicated by the fact of synagogues, mosques, temples, churches, and all the other different places of worship . . . [are] not excluded from the list. By any reasonable standards of thinking . . . nobody could, with their hand on their heart, honestly say that these other people were not worshiping and loving God, even if they called him by some other name like Truth.”

We all know that Mister God made man in his own image and images are found in mirrors . . . Mister God was and Mister God is on one side of the mirror . . . the add side. [We’re] on the other side . . . the take-away side. . . Take away people live in holes . . . [s]ome big, some little . . . all with different names . . . Greedy, Wicked, Cruel, Liar . . .On God’s side were appropriate piles. . . with names like Generosity, Kindness, and Truth. The more you fill up your hole, the nearer to Mister God’s side of the mirror you got.

If you get like Mister God, you don’t know you are . . .[g]ood and kind and loving. . .if you think you are, you ain’t.

'I Am' Everywhere You Look

“. . .You don’t expect Mister God knows he is good and kind and loving, do you? Mister God doesn’t know he is good and kind and loving. Mister God is–is-empty. . . Not empty because there was truly nothing there, but empty because he accepted, because he wanted everything. . .This is what we were being asked to do, throw away our pieces of colored glass and see clearly . . .[get] rid of them. . .[don’t be] frightened.”

“[Anna] pointed to a broken-off stump of an iron railing. ” ‘I want somebody to write about that, but they don’t see it.’ . . . Anna’s misery was for others. They just could not see the beauty of that broken iron stump, the colors, the crystalline shapes; they could not see the possibilities there. Anna wanted them to join with her in this exciting new world, but they could not imagine themselves to be so small that this jagged fracture could become a world of iron mountains, of iron plains with crystal trees.”

“Anna was not only deeply in love with Mister God; she was proud of him. . . Whatever feelings people have had about Mister God over the many centuries, I’m very sure of one thing — nobody has ever liked Mister God more than Anna.”

” ‘You see, everybody has got a point of view, but Mister God hasn’t. Mister God has only points to view. . .viewing points [emphasis added]’ . . . Humanity . . . had an infinite number of points of view, whereas Mister God had an infinite number of viewing points . . . ‘Mister God can know things and people from the inside, too. We only know them from the outside . . . So you see, Fynn, people can’t talk about Mister God from the outside; you can only talk about Mister God from the inside of him.‘ “

. . . [P]eople can only love outside and can only kiss outside, but Mister God can love you right inside, and Mister God can kiss you right inside, so it’s different. Mister God ain’t like us; we are a little bit like Mister God, but not much yet.”

And Anna’s words to Mister God carry forward, stopping the presses while spreading across the known universe . . .

Thank you, ma’m. You got me dizzy after that quick kiss and confession. Or was it a confession then a quick kiss?

Quote away! It’s a great little book, “Mister God, this is Anna.”

And when they ain’t looking, here’s a kiss from the inside.

Wow. Can I try that again?

      Thanks.

I was about 19 when I first heard of the book, but things come into your life at the moment when you are best ready for them.
I needed the knowledge then that the way others would have me go was not automatically the right way. Otherwise the subsequent years would have warped me beyond salvation… whatever that means!

When my “outside the box” mother introduced me to Anna and Mister God when the book first came out, I devoured it in disbelieve that I truly was free to let God out!

Thanks, Michael. What a delight to be refreshed with Anna-isms.

      Amy,

Am I the only one who never read about Anna until recently? Where has she been all my life?

Might have been knocking at a door, I wasn’t ready to open and welcome her in, while feeling free to “let God out.”

I am so glad you read what is a classic book and that it provoked such deep thought, Michael.
Personally I feel the divine contains all genders (there are biologically 7 or so when you look at chromosomes) and none but we have to use a pronoun.
    bless you!

You know the book has been calling out to me the past 6 months. I guess Someone besides you wanted me to read it.

Viv, I will always love Anna and try my best to see our God in everything . . .

Thanks, from the bottom of a heart filling with generosity, kindness and truth.

    Michael,
Thank you. I like this post.
“. . . [P]eople can only love outside and can only kiss outside, but Mister God can love you right inside, and Mister God can kiss you right inside…”
Nobody can make us grow, love or be happy, if we don’t want it. And nobody can make us suffer, if we don’t want. We have resources of happiness within us given by God. He wants us to be happy. Many people don’t understand that. They seek happiness everywhere outside, but not inside.
My mom called me yesterday. She complained about her niece and sister. They always do everything wrong. She only calls me when she is angry. She has many health problems, of course. I asked her, ‘Why don’t you change your mind to be happy and healthy?’ She said, ‘How? It’s impossible’. ‘You want others to change, but don’t see any opportunities to change yourself’, I said. ‘No. No, I can’t’, replied she.
It was so sad. God says her, ‘Stop suffering, live in peace. Be healthy’. He teaches her with difficulties, problems and diseases. But she doesn’t want to listen to him. She prefers change the whole world, but not herself.
    Helen.

      Helen T,

It all starts from within. Empty yourself of things you “want” and open the door to the Force we call God who wants to “fill” us — our void — with all we know as Good, Loving and Peaceful.

We can keep that state of “being” while dealing with the world outside, and those of whom we come into contact. Let God fill our “holes” with generosity, kindness and truth, as Anna says, coming closer to the mirror side of God whose waiting to merge with and in us.

You can’t help but “be” more like God, diminishing your own “suffering,” as well as giving care and feeling compassion for others.

Don’t try to change outside. But, only yourself within.

  8. Hi Mr Mike
I believe that christianity (when as accepted as TRUTH)has robbed us of the ability to experience god for ourselves. Besides, she’s not a Mister.

      Walt,

No matter which way you describe the Almighty, the message is still the same for us to merge with: “I am.”

The evidence of God can be viewed from all different faiths and beliefs. We get the same answer when we look deep within with no more agenda than to be filled with God’s spirit.

What the hell. “Mister God” is the name of the book in which Anna had been introduced to the world. Can’t help but wish I could be as full as she was when her whole being turned “inside out” at the time of her death.
