Writing reveals songs within the stillness

Writing opens me to a world within that I usually don’t visit unless I’m asleep or go into a meditative state. I let go of most thoughts except the one that crops up as I focus on a subject or rather it reveals itself to me.

I try my best to get out of the way.

If I think too much, I’ll never let that voice within sing as I remember it can when I finally get still. It has a wonderful voice in the stillness that can make me cheer and laugh or sometimes cry and want to hide away from the cruel world outside of myself.

writeThere’s a lot of peace in me when I write. I guess it comes from something I was born with. The peace that I felt in the womb before making my way into the outside where I developed relationships with others who write, who dream and who encourage me to be the best writer I could ever be even if it’s just for me.

I don’t know if there is anything better to do when I am writing. I don’t need anyone else to accomplish some end result. But it sure is fun when you can share these thoughts and feelings with others. Other writers in particular. Others who love to write and expose their true selves.

Let your voice sing out now.

Go ahead and write! Go ahead and sing!

This may become one of my pre-writing pep-talks. Not just because it reminds me of the Collegeville group, but because it hits the nail on the head. What an apt connection, between meditative attention and the focus of writing! My “getting out of the way” is mostly about ditching the fear of criticism, (yuck.) The other writers in our group are helping me through that, though- perhaps more than they know.
