Good things happen when you open to ’em

They say that “bad things happen in threes.” But I’m here to tell you that good things can happen in threes if you but open yourself to ’em.

Take today for example. I stopped at Lowe’s to get some of my walking steps in and felt proud to have parked in the spot designated with a sign that said “Veterans Parking.” I figured I might as well get some bird seed to feed my fine feathered friends who accumulate near the statues of both the standing St. Francis of Assissi and the seated Buddha.

Lowe’s offers 10 percent off to veterans but after purchasing two 20-pound bags of wild bird seed, I noticed that I was not given a discount on my receipt. I showed it to a store employee who advised me to check with hire-ups.

A fellow at the main office looked at my receipt and told me that I was not going to get the veterans discount because the bird seed was on sale. “Half Price!” he said with a grin. I thanked him and went back and picked up two more bags to cart back home.

Meanwhile, I stopped at Target and bought what was the last box of Takis, the really hot cracker type of snack that I have had a craving for over the past several weeks. I found the box at the front of the store and marched to the aisle for crackers and snacks and saw there were none left, but noticed that April 13th (today) was the last day that store was offering a 20 percent-off discount for Frito Lays. It too has its version of “Flaming Hot” snacks and I scooped up two of ’em. (See below)

Last, but not least, I went to Aldi to pay the lowest price in the area for a gallon of milk for the grandkids. While there, I noticed that “Mega Meat Extra Large Pizzas” where on sale for half the price. That was a whopping $3.75. Can you believe paying such a measley price for a pizza?

I ended up buying two of ’em and now have to figure out how to bake both of them in the old stove at the same time.

Good things can happen if you open yourself to the possibilities. Just keep your eyes open and your intuition tuned into the Universe. You’ll find out the third time is indeed the charm.
