Democracy wins in this historic jury trial

Relieved.

Grateful.

Joyful.

Those are the words that sprung from my heart and soul as I took in what the jury provided the entire world with their unanimous decision to convict a former USA president.

I was concerned as the deliberations stretched from hour to an hour, knowing that the sooner a verdict was reached, the better the chances were that it would’ve been for the prosecution. A quick verdict is usually a guilty verdict, according to my experience as a criminal defense lawyer for 20 years.

For a few moments, I had visions of a “mistrial” being declared as a single hold-out refused to join the majority. That was one of the things I strove for as a public defender. If I couldn’t get a not guilty verdict, I wanted a hung jury. I viewed it as a victory because I had prevented a finding of guilt, and another lawyer in my office would be given the case to try for an acquittal.

The terminology “hung jury” became my password when working on the Internet years after my practice. So, you can see how concerned I was that the ex-president would probably declare victory through such a mistrial procedure.

I believe the nation has been well served with this verdict as well as the whole judicial process. The coverage by most of the media has provided us with what will become an historic moment in our life time and many lifetimes that will follow.

Now we must deal with those who will feel the man who stood trial was somehow denied due process, and become upset with the verdict. Our hearts must go out to them and try to convince them the process was righteous and truly the American Way.

The defendant lost. Democracy won!

Uncle Mike – I couldn’t be happier to see justice served on the former president with the verdict in this NY trial. And it should be on any president who transgressing the law, whether Biden, Trump, Obama Bush or Clinton. Would love to visit you sometime and talk!

You are one hell of a nephew. I totally agree and would have what charges against Democrat as well as Republican. It’s a shame we can’t bring some impeachment charges against some of the Supreme Court justices

But that’s another story and we can talk about that. I can also try to influence you to become a member of the communist party.

      Only joking. Only joking!

My heart goes out to those still supporting him and I just hope they refrain from any violence like we saw on January 6, 2021, a day that will always be viewed as one of America’s “day of infamy” like Dec. 7, 1941 and 9-11, 2001.

I am honored to be considered as someone who could be on your show. I have never done a podcast but have done interviews.

Isn’t it great to have developed friends over the Internet and more exclusively through writing and comenting on WordPress? Thanks my dear!
